Amman: The Jordan Airports Management Company (JAC) has completed the technical preparations necessary to reopen Amman Civil Airport, meeting all aviation safety, security, and logistical requirements. Ahmad Al-Azzam, the Director General of the company, confirmed these developments, stating that they are now awaiting the licensing approval from the Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission to resume operations.
According to Jordan News Agency, Al-Azzam mentioned in an interview that the company expects to obtain the necessary licenses by the end of the month. Once these are secured, the airport’s operations will depend on airlines scheduling their flights to Amman Civil Airport. The facility is set to receive flights from both Middle Eastern and European countries.
The airport is expected to have a capacity of about one million passengers annually. Al-Azzam highlighted that it will serve as a backup to Queen Alia International Airport, aiming to ease pressure on air traffic and passenger flow.
