ISTD Notifies 379 Businesses for Non-Compliance with E-Invoicing System

Amman: The Income and Sales Tax Department (ISTD) has undertaken field visits to several sectors required to register in the National E-invoicing System. This initiative aims to gather feedback from compliant businesses, monitor the implementation of the system, and ensure adherence to its regulations.

According to Jordan News Agency, during the field visits, non-compliant businesses and individuals were notified and granted legal grace periods to rectify their status before facing any legal action, as per the applicable legislation. The campaign resulted in notices being issued to 379 businesses, stores, and individuals for failing to comply with the e-invoicing system's provisions and failing to issue proper invoices. These entities have been given a one-week period to address their compliance issues.

The department emphasized that its teams will continue conducting field visits to collect feedback from compliant entities and verify adherence to the system's provisions. The ISTD reiterated that non-compliant entities will be given a grace period of one week before any legal proceedings are initiated.

Additionally, the department reported that approximately 158,000 companies, establishments, individuals, and professionals are now registered users of the system. The e-service facilitates the issuance of about 1.2 million invoices daily. The e-invoicing system is integrated with the government's "Sanad" application, enabling companies and establishments to verify the compliance of their local purchases with the billing e-service. The system also offers an invoice verification service, ensuring authenticity by scanning a QR code through the digital document verification option within the application.
