A high-level delegation from the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), led by Director General of Global Practice and Partnership Dr. Issa Faye, is participating in the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) meetings, where the IsDB holds the status of a permanent observer to the United Nations in New York City.
The meetings, taking place September 19 to 27, are convened under the theme “Leaving no one behind: acting together for the advancement of peace, sustainable development, and human dignity for present and future generations”.
IsDB Vice President Dr. Zamir Iqbal will represent IsDB President Dr. Mohammed Al-Jasser at the UN secretary-general’s meeting with heads of multilateral development banks (MDBs) to align efforts between the UN and the MDBs to accelerate progress on the 2030 agenda.
The IsDB delegation will participate in high-level global meetings during the Summit of the Future held on the sidelines of the UNGA. The meetings aim to enhance the IsDB’s global standing, as well as engaging with s
trategic development partners to support the IsDB’s efforts in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in member countries and Muslim communities in non-member countries.
The IsDB will also co-organize the second edition of the Global Advocacy Dialogue Series, jointly launched with the United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation. The dialogue seeks to explore the latest development trends and economic partnerships, focusing on the innovative and evolving nature of South-South cooperation and tripartite cooperation.
