Iraqi president urges calm amid ‘stalking terrorism’

Iraqi President Barham Salih Wednesday called at-odds parties in Iraq to exercise calm amid rising fear from “stalking terrorism.”

During a meeting with Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kazemi, Salih urged the conflicting parties to renounce the escalation and join ranks to diminish whatever opportunities “stalkers” might seize to move against the country, and uphold stability and security in the country.

He called on national parties to support the security and armed forces in implementing their duties.

“We must maintain security and stability, abide by calm and rely on a responsible dialogue regarding the crisis that lays down a clear roadmap and solutions that protect the supreme national interest, reassure citizens and realise their interests and aspirations,” he said.
