Iraqi president calls ‘constructive’ dialogue with neighbouring countries

Iraqi President Abdul Latif Rashid Wednesday called for consolidating security and stability in Iraq and for a “constructive” dialogue with neighbouring countries.

During a meeting with the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the UN, Jeanine Plasschaert, President Rashid noted his support for the government in implementing its programme, responding to the aspirations of the Iraqi people and improving living standards in the country.

“Our efforts focus on consolidating security and stability in the country, ensuring the safety of citizens and enhancing communication and dialogue with neighbouring countries in discussing files based on common interests, mutual respect and sovereignty in a way that supports the security and stability of the region and enhances cooperation,” he said.
