Amman: Interior Minister Mazen Faraya has approved the completion of release procedures for 546 administrative detainees, as submitted by administrative governors. In a statement on Wednesday, the ministry noted that this decision aligns with the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan and is part of the ministry’s ongoing efforts.
According to Jordan News Agency, the release aims to help the beneficiaries reintegrate into society, enhance their opportunities for rehabilitation, and allow them to resume their normal lives during the holy month with their families. The ministry emphasized that this step follows a comprehensive review of the detainees’ cases, ensuring that their detention periods were deemed “sufficient” by competent authorities.
The ministry further explained that the decision underscores its humanitarian approach to administrative detention. It seeks to balance this approach with adherence to legal and security controls designed to curb the criminal activity of dangerous individuals.
