Interior minister to have direct contact with investors

The interior minister Tuesday announced he will start having weekly meetings with investors and know their views and the challenges they face.

In a meeting with unionists and the Amman Chamber of Commerce (ACC) Board of Directors, Minister of Interior Mazen Faraya said, “We are willing to address and work on any comments lodged with the Ministry by Jordanian and non-Jordanian investors…,” emphasising the Ministry is open to suggestions.

He said the Interior Ministry is keen to hear from investors and address any problems they may encounter, stressing the importance of partnership with the private sector to further the national economy interests.

He said the Ministry is keen to address the obstacles investors encounter, saying that this sits in the core of the Ministry’s responsibilities, as economic stability creates more job opportunities.

The Ministry is working to make it easier for foreign investors to apply for residency and secure a citizenship, adding that the Ministry’s new measures will open the borders and lift obstacles to intraregional trade.

Minister of Investment Khairy Amr said the Ministry had been established to standardise investment measures under a single overarching umbrella that is fixated on creating an inviting investment environment.
