Interior Minister and Public Security Chief Visit Family Protection Department for Service Evaluation

Amman: Interior Minister Mazen Faraya and Public Security Director Maj. Gen. Obaidallah Maaytah visited the Family Protection and Juvenile Department to receive updates on its specialized case handling and its prevention and awareness initiatives aimed at enhancing social and family security.

According to Jordan News Agency, Minister Faraya praised the department’s strategic and institutional efforts in safeguarding families and vulnerable groups, addressing family-related issues, and implementing solutions to maintain family cohesion and protect juveniles from delinquency. He emphasized the importance of continued coordination and collaboration between the Public Security Directorate and administrative governors to ensure victim support while maintaining their privacy.

Minister Faraya called for ongoing development of operational strategies and strict adherence to humanitarian, legal, and social standards. Public Security Chief Maaytah reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the Family Protection Department, advocating for the implementation of plans to strengthen the family protection system, broaden services, and improve the efficiency of field staff.

Maaytah highlighted the significance of the department’s awareness programs in collaboration with educational, religious, and community institutions. He stressed their role in fostering values that reject violence and encourage dialogue and respect within families and society.

During the visit, the Interior Minister and Public Security Chief were briefed by the Director of the Family Protection Department on current plans and programs, procedures for receiving and handling reports, and the legal, social, and psychological measures applied in addressing cases, including relevant statistics and indicators.
