House speaker meets Bahraini counterpart over parliamentary diplomacy, cooperation

Jordan’s Lower House Speaker, Abdul Karim Doghmi, on Thursday stressed the importance of Arab parliaments’ coordination and cooperation to face the challenges facing the Arab countries.

Speaking at a meeting in Manama with Speaker of the Bahraini Council of Representatives and President of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (AIPU), Fawzia bint Abdulla Zainal, Doghmi pointed to the “deep-rooted” Jordanian-Bahraini relations in various fields, stressing the role of parliamentary diplomacy in promoting joint Arab action.

For her part, Zainal affirmed her appreciation for Jordan’s parliamentary expertise and its Lower House’s roles in various fields of joint Arab action, especially in relation to Arab issues.

The meeting comes on the sidelines of Doghmi’s participation in a conference to develop Arab educational conditions, organized by the Arab Parliament (AP) in the Bahraini capital, Manama, according to a House statement.

The event also saw the launch of a document on Education Development in the Arab world, which features guidelines outlined by AP, in coordination with the Arab education ministers, which would be reviewed within a 10-year period maximum.
