Amman: Speaker of the Lower House of Parliament Ahmad Safadi met with a delegation from the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, led by former President of the German Bundestag Norbert Lammert, to discuss enhancing bilateral cooperation and strengthening ties between Jordan, Germany, and the European Union.
According to Jordan News Agency, both sides during the meeting commended the vision of His Majesty King Abdullah II for political modernization, which they noted has empowered political parties, women, and youth in Jordan. Safadi emphasized the importance of Jordanian-German cooperation in serving the interests of both nations and highlighted the role of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation and its development-focused initiatives in Jordan.
Safadi pointed out Jordan’s ongoing progress in implementing political, economic, and administrative modernization. These efforts are aimed at expanding public participation in decision-making, enhancing party-based parliamentary engagement, and promoting the inclusion of women and youth in political life. He also acknowledged Germany’s support for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) and stressed the necessity for a strong international stance to end the war on Gaza and ensure the immediate delivery of humanitarian aid to the Strip.
Lammert reaffirmed the significance of Jordan’s role in fostering regional stability and security, expressing the Foundation’s interest in expanding cooperation with the Jordanian Parliament. He highlighted the robust relations between Jordan, Germany, and the EU, and expressed appreciation for Jordan’s reform efforts. Lammert also noted the Foundation’s close monitoring of Jordan’s modernization process, describing King Abdullah II’s vision for political reform and empowerment as a crucial step on the country’s democratic path.
