House committee recommends launching industrial estate in Zarqa

Lower House Economy and Investment Committee launched a series of national dialogues on the draft law regulating the investment environment for 2022, it head, MP Khair Abu Sa’ilik, said.

Chairing a committee meeting on Sunday to discuss the draft law, attended by Minister of Investment Khairy Amro, Abu Sa’ilik noted the panel will submit a recommendation to the Cabinet to establish an industrial estate in central Zarqa governorate, given availability of various productive and industrial sectors in the region.

Abu Sa’ilik noted the committee will discuss the bill in a way that serves public interest, adding that the draft law will be linked to providing job opportunities and stimulating investment in the Kingdom.

Meanwhile, the committee’s members stressed the importance of attracting investment to Jordan to provide job opportunities for Jordanians and reduce unemployment rates.

The deputies noted multiplicity of related laws, regulations and instructions causes a decline in investment, stressing the importance of stabile legislative environment in the Kingdom.

For his part, Amro said the draft law aims to enhance various sectors’ competitiveness in a fair manner, adding that the draft law is a “starting point” for improving the Kingdom’s investment environment.

Jordan’s investment map will be ready next September, which coincides with the investment ministry’s plans aimed to facilitate investors’ transactions, Amro added.
