Health Minister, Tunisian counterpart discuss cooperation

Health Minister Firas Al Hawari met Saturday met with his Tunisian counterpart, Ali Mrabet, for a discussion on ways to enhance bilateral ties, especially in the field of health cooperation.

The meeting was held on the sidelines of the annual periodic meeting of the Higher Council of the Arab Board of Health Specializations, currently being held in Amman

Both ministers stressed the importance of utilizing the high level relations between the two countries have witnessed over the past years, in order to increase cooperation in the health field.

The two sides agreed on exchanging expertise and experiences, especially in the field of digitizing and developing the health sector, developing the health cooperation protocol to include cooperation in new areas, forming working teams from both parties to agree on the final version of this project, and forming a sectoral committee in the health field to follow up on and implement bilateral cooperation.

They also agreed to establish cooperation in the fields of heart surgery for newborns, work on exchanging experiences, twinning health facilities such as cancer treatment centers and structures for monitoring communicable diseases, and developing bilateral cooperation in the field of medical tourism.

The Tunisian Minister of Health invited Al Hawari to visit Tunisia to sign the new draft protocol in May.

The meeting was attended by Tunisia’s Ambassador to Jordan, Khaled Al Suhaili, Director General of the National Authority for Evaluation and Accreditation at the Tunisian Ministry of Health, Shukry Hammouda, and Deputy Ambassador Counselor Mohamed Ali Benhabib.
