The cabinet on Sunday approved mandating reasons for draft regulation amending the system of broadcasting licenses and TV and radio re-broadcasts, and the fees levied thereon No.163 for 2003 to be brought before the Legislation and Opinion Bureau to complete issuance procedures in accordance with the rules. The draft regulation aims to reduce the amount of fees collected under it by up to 50 per cent, for the purposes of encouraging investment, keeping pace with technical development in the field of broadcasting and re-broadcasting, in addition to alighning the system with the Audiovisual Media Law No. 26 for 2015 and the rest of the legislation regulating the Media Commission work and relevant titles and references.. In the meeting, chaired by Prime Minister, Bisher Khasawneh, the cabinet also approved mandating reasons for draft regulation amending the administrative organization system of the Media Commission for 2023, for the purpose of creating a directorate for digital media in the commission, keeping pace with the significant transformation that occurred in the media landscape, which is heading towards digital transformation through applications and programs via the Internet. The cabinet also approved a set of draft regulations related to domestic affairs.
