Amman: The General Federation of Jordanian Trade Unions (GFJTU) welcomed the Social Security Corporation's call to launch a comprehensive national dialogue on the proposed amendments and scenarios to the Social Security Law, following the announcement of the results of the 11th actuarial study aimed at assessing the corporation's financial position and ensuring its insurance sustainability over the long term.
According to Jordan News Agency, the GFJTU issued a statement on Sunday, highlighting that initiating a national discussion under the Economic and Social Council's umbrella, with participation from social partners and experts, represents a step toward enhancing transparency and consensus to achieve optimal outcomes in this regard.
The statement emphasized that the GFJTU, as a representative of workers within the council through the membership of labor unions, will actively engage in the dialogues to ensure the protection of the rights of insured workers and retirees. It aims to present a trade union perspective that serves the public interest and provides social protection for workers.
The federation also expressed its support for principles announced by the corporation. These principles include maintaining the financial sustainability of social security, improving conditions for retirees with low pension incomes, and refraining from infringing on the benefits and acquired rights of insured persons in accordance with the law currently in force.
