Amman: The Gulf Cooperation Council Monday called for prompt international action to lift the blockade on the Gaza Strip for the delivery of urgent humanitarian aid. GCC Secretary-General Jasem al-Budaiwi expressed the Gulf Arab states’ condemnation of the ongoing unjust, inhumane, and illegal siege imposed by the Israeli occupation forces on Gaza, and blocking the entry of humanitarian aid, prompting an escalating humanitarian catastrophe.
According to Jordan News Agency, the GCC emphasized that the blockade constitutes a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law, the Geneva Conventions, and human rights principles. Al-Budaiwi described it as a clear affront to the international community, urging immediate steps to address the situation.
The GCC held the occupying power fully responsible for the ongoing humanitarian tragedy in Gaza. The council criticized the mass starvation policy pursued by the occupation forces against “the brothers” in Gaza, labeling it a war crime that warrants accountability by the international community.
