GCC summit underscores partnership with Jordan

The concluding statement of the 42nd GCC Summit in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, issued Tuesday, underscored the strategic partnership between GCC member states and Jordan.

It recommended exerting more efforts to implement the joint plans that had been agreed upon within the framework of the strategic partnership between Jordan and the GCC.

In its concluding statement “Riyadh Communique,” which was announced by Nayef Hajraf, the GCC secretary-general, the GCC highlighted the importance of full and continued implementation of Saudi Arabia King Salman bin Abdul Aziz’s vision.

It emphasised the importance of a complementary economic unit and a joint security defence system, in addition to coordination to uphold the regional security and stability and eschew the Gulf states regional and international conflicts.

The leaders stressed the importance of concerted efforts to draw up integrated foreign policies of the GCC member states to have a unified foreign policy that would meet the aspirations of the Gulf peoples.

They also highlighted the importance of realising the GCC economic goals and the need to bolster cooperation to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman, who chaired the summit, urged moving forward with economic unity and the joint defence and security systems.

He called for addressing the Iranian nuclear and missile programmes to uphold regional stability and security.
