Gaza NGOs, Private Sector Reject Israeli-Controlled Humanitarian Aid Mechanism

Gaza: The Palestinian NGOs Network and the Coordinating Council for the Private Sector in Gaza have strongly rejected the Israeli-imposed mechanism for distributing humanitarian aid in the besieged Gaza Strip.

According to Jordan News Agency, in a joint statement on Monday, the groups criticized the mechanism for militarizing aid and bypassing UN agencies, Palestinian and international humanitarian organizations, and the local private sector, undermining their legal, professional, and ethical mandates.

They warned against cooperation with the system, whether by civil society, private sector entities, international organizations, companies, or individuals, stressing that it threatens the neutrality of humanitarian work and erodes public trust in international institutions.

The organizations urged the international community to fulfill its legal and moral responsibilities by pressuring for an immediate end to the war, halting the ongoing Israeli aggression, ensuring civilian protection, and securing access to dignified living conditions for Palestinians.

Meanwhile, Gaza’s Government Media Office echoed the rejection of Israel’s proposed aid distribution model, which would channel assistance through military-controlled centers under stringent security conditions, turning neutral humanitarian work into a tool for political blackmail and collective punishment.

The office reiterated that the plan violates the core humanitarian principles of neutrality, independence, and impartiality, and breaches the Fourth Geneva Convention, which prohibits an occupying power from exploiting humanitarian needs for military or political ends.

It emphasized that aid distribution must be conducted through neutral international institutions, ensuring equitable and safe access to all those in need, free from any Israeli interference or coercive conditions.
