Amman: During the first week of Ramadan, health and occupational safety inspection teams from the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) destroyed 4,882 liters of Ramadan beverages deemed unfit for human consumption.
According to Jordan News Agency, the municipality issued a press statement revealing that its staff issued 752 warnings and 84 fines to several businesses found in violation of health and safety standards. The inspection teams also collected 94 food samples for laboratory tests to ensure their safety and compliance with approved standards.
The health and occupational safety inspection workers conducted extensive inspection tours of establishments and stalls selling Ramadan beverages and food products. These inspections aimed to ensure adherence to health regulations. Out of the 256 stalls visited, 218 were removed for not meeting public health requirements.
The municipality emphasized that inspection tours will continue throughout Ramadan to address any violations that may affect public health and food safety. The focus will remain on ensuring compliance of establishments and stalls with health regulations and instructions.
The municipality also urged citizens to avoid purchasing from unreliable or non-compliant sources, underscoring the importance of public cooperation in maintaining health and safety standards during the holy month.
