GAM Begins Upgrading Tunnels, Bridges at 24 Traffic Intersections in Amman

Amman: Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) has commenced maintenance work on a number of tunnels and bridges at 24 traffic intersections on several main roads within the capital city of Amman. This initiative is part of the municipality’s efforts to enhance infrastructure efficiency, improve traffic safety, and enhance the city’s urban landscape.

According to Jordan News Agency, the municipality announced that the maintenance work is being carried out under a dedicated tender valued at JD349,200, with an additional contingency fund of JD20,000. The project is expected to take 180 days to complete. The primary goal of the project is to ensure an extended lifespan for the tunnel and bridge infrastructure and to improve the urban appearance of the intersections.

The GAM specified that the maintenance work will cover major thoroughfares in Amman and various vital areas with tunnels and bridges that experience high traffic volumes. The project aligns with the municipality’s strategic goal of establishing a modern, organized, and safe road network. The key vision includes improving and maintaining the road network, infrastructure, and intersections, enhancing public safety, and improving the experience of road users.

Additional upgrades will be conducted as needed within the allocated contingency budget, focusing on safety priorities and the requirements of the traffic situation during the implementation period, as stated by the GAM.
