Amman: The Greater Amman Municipality stated that Amman Vision Treatment and Recycling (AVTR) is a company entirely owned by the municipality, serving as its strategic arm in enhancing the solid waste management ecosystem.
According to Jordan News Agency, the municipality clarified reports circulating on social media regarding the company, noting that AVTR had successfully attracted 30 local and foreign companies. It also launched an international tender for waste management and processing within the municipality's jurisdiction, awarding contracts to three specialized companies in this sector.
The municipality elaborated that AVTR was established in 2022 as a private shareholding company wholly owned by the municipality. Its objective is to manage the solid waste ecosystem comprehensively through partnerships with the private sector.
Further, the municipality emphasized that AVTR adheres to the highest governance standards, with oversight by a board chaired by the head of the Amman Municipality Committee. The board comprises public sector representatives and a group of specialists and experts, fostering transparency and ensuring strategic oversight.
The municipality highlighted that all company activities are conducted within clear legal and regulatory frameworks, with partnerships grounded in transparency, competitiveness, and public interest. It confirmed that the company's performance is continuously monitored and evaluated against approved performance indicators.
