Amman:The Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) has declared a state of emergency due to anticipated wet weather across the capital, initially at a low level on Monday and set to escalate to a medium level on Tuesday morning.
According to Jordan News Agency, GAM has confirmed that emergency crews are prepared to respond to public reports, which can be made at the Tla' Al-Ali control center. Residents are encouraged to use the unified call center numbers, 102 or 117180, to report any weather-related issues.
City officials have issued advisories for residents to exercise caution, particularly in low-lying areas and flood-prone valleys. To mitigate road flooding, GAM emphasized that property owners should refrain from connecting rooftop drainage pipes to municipal sewer lines and urged the public to dispose of litter properly to prevent storm drains from becoming blocked.
Additionally, the municipality has advised merchants and property owners to check submersible pumps located below street level, secure any basement inventories, and safeguard materials at construction sites to prevent runoff from obstructing drainage systems.
