Amman: The Amman Magistrate Court found four public servants guilty of corruption and forging COVID-19 vaccination certificates, handing down prison sentences of up to six months and ordering fines of up to JD500.
In the guilty verdict, the court ordered one of the convicts to pay JD961 as restitution for unaccounted-coronavirus vaccine doses that were under his care and a JD500-fine, handing him a prison term of four months.
Two nurses were found guilty of exploiting public office and forging certificates and were each sentenced to six months in prison and ordered to pay a fine of JD500.
The court also found another public servant guilty of forging certificates, handing down a two-month prison sentence in addition to ordering him to pay court fees.
The Public Prosecution had filed five charges against the convicts including negligence to perform their duties, wasting public funds, exploiting public office, forging certificates and involvement in the issuance of forged certificates.
