Amman: Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi met with Belgian Foreign Minister Hadja Lahbib, whose country presides over the current EU rotating presidency, Cypriot Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos, and European Union (EU) High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell in Brussels on Sunday. The meetings discussed the latest developments in the Gaza Strip and efforts to forge a strong and effective international stance to end the war and the suffering and humanitarian catastrophe it is causing. In the meetings, Safadi stressed the need for Israel to comply with international law and humanitarian law, as well as the international will calling for an end to the war. He also called for protecting civilians and ensuring the delivery of adequate and sustainable humanitarian assistance to all parts of the Strip. Safadi also underlined the need for an immediate and permanent ceasefire and the Kingdom's absolute rejection of the displacement of Palestinians within their homeland or abroad. H e reaffirmed that just and comprehensive peace on the basis of a two-state solution is the only way to protect the region from escalating conflict and to ensure security and peace for Palestinians, Israelis, and the region as a whole. Safadi will also participate in a meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council on Monday, along with the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia and Egypt.
