FM stresses importance of joint Arab action

Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi underlined the importance of launching a joint Arab action that would take the initiative and dedicate resources and effort to overcoming crises afflicting the Arab world, achieving stability, achievement and prosperity, and putting the Arab world on the path of hope, development and excellence.

Speaking in the 158th ordinary ministerial meeting of the Arab League Council, held in Cairo on Tuesday, Safadi warned of the danger of undermining the two-state solution and that the continuation of the occupation pushes the region towards more conflict, where there is no peace, security or stability without meeting all rights of the Palestinian people.

“Any suggested solution that does not meet the Palestinians’ right to freedom and an independent state with sovereignty on their national soil is absurd fantasies,” Safadi said.

“The apartheid situation is an inevitable doom to undermine the two-state solution. This is a hideous inhumane condition, and a path to conflict, not peace,” he emphasized.

“We meet again, in a difficult Arab time, in which crises deepen and others erupt. The prospects for solutions are absent, the suffering of brotherly peoples increases, and our entire region bears the consequences of these crises, security threats and economic pressures, the displacement of millions, and the loss of generations, and we meet and realize that no solutions to these crises without a joint Arab action that takes the initiative, devote resources and effort to overcome them, produces stability, delivers achievements and prosperity, and puts our Arab world on the path of hope, development and excellence,” Safadi said.
