FM stresses importance of joint Arab action, 1st add

“Our common effort must be intensified, to force a return to real negotiations, to achieve peace, on the basis of the two-state solution, which embodies the independent, sovereign Palestinian state, with occupied Jerusalem as its capital, on the pre-June 4, 1967 borders,” Safadi added.

He also said, “We must warn the whole world that undermining the two-state solution has pushed the region towards more injustice, oppression and conflict. Any proposal that does not satisfy the Palestinians’ right to freedom and an independent state with sovereignty on their national soil is absurd fantasies.”

He noted that the Kingdom has chosen peace, a just and comprehensive peace as a strategic goal.

He stressed that regional cooperation is a necessity to address regional challenges and leverage available opportunities.

But, in order to reach the full extent of this cooperation, a just solution to the Palestinian issue must be realized, as there is no development without stability, and there is no stability, no security, and no peace without fulfilling the rights of the Palestinian people, he explained.

He said that the possibility of jumping over the Palestinian isseu is an illusion that does not solve a conflict or achieve peace, stressing the need to continue provide vital services to Palestinian refugees in full by for UNRWA in accordance with its UN mandate, and the financial deficit it faces threatens this ability and filling this deficit requires Arab and international contributions to its budget.
