FM, Spanish counterpart stress need to end conflict in Middle East

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi, on Thursday, and Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation Arancha Gonzalez Laya, stressed the need for the international community to move effectively to end the conflict in the Middle East region.

In phone call, the two sides also stressed the need to halt all the Israeli illegal measures, namely building settlements, that undermine the two-state solution.

The ending of the Israeli occupation is the only way to achieve peace, as well as the two-state solution on the basis of international law.

Halting the current escalation should be coupled with stopping all the Israeli aggressions, violations, and illegal measures in Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip.

The two diplomats agreed to sustain consultation and coordination on efforts aiming at mobilizing the international stance that realizes the impossibility of maintaining the status quo.
