FM participates in Arab League meeting to confront Israeli aggression

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, participated on Tuesday, in the meeting of the Arab League in its extraordinary session at the level of foreign ministers.

Held virtually, the meeting came at a joint invitation from Jordan and Palestine, to discuss Arab, international action to confront the Israeli aggressions and violations in Jerusalem, Gaza and the rest of the occupied Palestinian territories.

Safadi said Jerusalem is the top Arab cause, adding that comprehensive peace can’t be achieved without its liberation, as the eternal capital of the Palestinian state, which should be free, independent and sovereign, along the June 4, 1967 lines.

Continuing: “Jerusalemites stood in the face of injustice, revolted in defense of their rights in their homes, their holy sites, and to a free and dignified life. Jordan stands by them, with all its capabilities, in facing aggression, in protecting rights, and in defending Islamic and Christian holy sites and their identity.”

Jordanians and Palestinians shared defense of Jerusalem and all Palestine, and the rights of the Palestinian people to freedom, independence, and a sovereign state, he said.

Addressing the meeting, Safadi added: Defending Palestine, and its sanctities remains the supreme task, which His Majesty King Abdullah II, custodian of Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, harnesses all Jordan’s capabilities for this purpose.
