Muscat: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, and the Omani Minister of Foreign Affairs, Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, held extensive talks in Muscat on Sunday to discuss ways to enhance bilateral relations and the region’s developments.
According to Jordan News Agency, the two foreign ministers explored the potential for expanding Jordanian-Omani cooperation in several vital sectors, including investment, trade, tourism, education, and mining. They reviewed preparations for the twelfth round of meetings of the Jordanian-Omani Joint Committee, which Muscat will host.
The discussions included plans for drafting agreements and memoranda of understanding to be signed during the committee meetings. This process aims to institutionalize mutual economic cooperation and broaden its scope. Both ministers emphasized their commitment to developing bilateral relations, following directives from His Majesty King Abdullah II and His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq.
Safadi extended congratulations to Oman on its National Day, celebrated on November 20, and expressed wishes for continued progress under Sultan Haitham bin Tariq’s leadership. He also acknowledged Oman’s role in promoting Arab cooperation and regional stability.
Both sides advocated for strengthening the ceasefire in Gaza, ensuring humanitarian aid delivery, facilitating reconstruction efforts, and launching a peace process based on the two-state solution. The ministers also addressed the escalation in the West Bank, emphasizing the need to halt Israeli measures that undermine peace prospects.
Looking ahead, Safadi and Al Busaidi agreed to maintain cooperation and coordination on bilateral and regional issues. Safadi’s visit to Oman includes participation in the Muscat Mediation Retreat.
