FM meets leaders, members of US Senate, House of Representatives

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi held, in Washington, a series of meetings with a number of leaders and members of the US Senate and House of Representatives that focused on the fourth US-Jordan Memorandum of Understanding on Strategic Partnership for the years (2023-2029).

 

The meetings covered a wide range of Middle East issues in the forefront of which is the Palestinian cause, the Syrian crisis, supporting Iraq and Lebanon, fighting terrorism and food security.

 

Safadi praised the supportive stances of the US Congress towards Jordan and the US assistance provided to Jordan to aid it in its development journey and support the reform program adopted by the Kingdom.

 

Members of the U.S. Senate voiced their appreciation for the efforts led by His Majesty King Abdullah II to enhance regional security and stability.

 

At the Capitol, Safadi met with Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee Robert Menendez, Republican Caucus Chair of the US Senate Appropriations and Foreign Operations Subcommittee Lindsey Graham, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriations Senator Richard Shelby, Chairman of the Senate Middle East and North Africa Subcommittee Chris Murphy, House Appropriations Committee Chair Rosa DeLauro, Chairman of the Republican Bloc at the House Foreign Affairs Committee Michael McCaul and Chairman of the House Middle East and North Africa Subcommittee Ted Deutch.
