FM, German Parliament delegation talk ties, cooperation

Amman: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, on Sunday met head of the German parliamentary delegation and foreign policy spokesperson for the Social Democratic Party (SPD) at German Parliament (Bundestag), Nils Schmid, on the sidelines of the FM’s participation in Munich Security Conference (MSC 2023).

The meeting was attended by Deputy Parliament Speaker, Aydan Ozoguz, its Defense Committee member, Maria Fullers, and SPD coordinator in Parliament, Katja Mast.

During the meeting, Safadi affirmed the “solid” Jordanian-German relations and partnership, lauding volume of joint cooperation in the economic, development and defense fields.

Safadi also stressed the continued work to expand and develop joint cooperation and coordination horizons in all fields.

In addition, Safadi valued German parliament’s continued support to Jordan within the framework of joint cooperation programs, referring to German aid agreement signed last October.

The two sides discussed regional issues, particularly the Palestinian issue, according to a Foreign Ministry statement.

For his part, Schmid commended level of joint cooperation and coordination, stressing his country’s appreciation for Jordan’s “pivotal” role in supporting efforts to achieve the region’s security and stability.

Schmid also highlighted importance of maintaining support to assist the Kingdom in facing challenges and assuming burdens triggered by the region’s crises.
