FM, French counterpart talk ‘strategic’ partnership, cooperation

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, discussed with his French counterpart, Catherine Colonna, the importance of the Jordanian-French strategic partnership and ways to strengthen cooperation and coordination in various fields.

In a phone call with Colonna on Wednesday, Safadi affirmed Jordan’s appreciation for the “deep-rooted” friendship with France, lauding its main role in efforts to overcome regional challenges and its position in support of the two-state solution and respect for the historical status quo in Jerusalem and its sanctities.

Safadi and Colonna, whose country is chairing the current EU session , discussed cooperation between the Kingdom and the EU and the fourteenth meeting of the Partnership Council, which the Kingdom will host Thursday.

The duo also stressed the continued action to enhance cooperation in various fields, deepen coordination on regional issues and efforts to achieve security and stability.

The two ministers stressed the need to intensify efforts to find a political horizon that achieves a just and comprehensive peace on the basis of the two-state solution and continue coordination bilaterally and globally with international community’s partners, through Munich Group, which also includes Egypt and Germany for this purpose.

During the call, the two ministers discussed efforts to reach a political solution to the Syrian crisis, support for Iraq’s stability, and many regional and international issues of common interest.
