EU Says Member States Have Sufficient Oil, Gas Reserves Despite Middle East War

Brussels: The European Commission announced on Monday that European Union member states maintain sufficient oil and gas reserves, despite disruptions in the supply chain caused by the ongoing war in the Middle East. European Commission spokesperson Anna-Kaisa Itkonen addressed reporters in Brussels, stating that the security of supply is less of a concern compared to the rising energy prices.

According to Jordan News Agency, Itkonen noted that EU member states currently hold oil reserves sufficient to last up to 90 days, with no immediate signs of an emergency. She also confirmed that the Group of Seven (G7) countries is set to discuss the potential release of strategic reserves in a meeting scheduled for later that day.
