EU extends sanctions against Daesh and al-Qaeda

The Council of the EU Monday announced it is extending its sanctions against Daesh and al-Qaeda and persons and entities associated with them, according to Euronews.

The council said in a statement that the sanctions were extended for a year, as the sanctions target 13 individuals and four groups.

The targets under the sanctions are subject to an asset freeze and travel ban to EU member states, and persons and entities in the EU would be prohibited from funding the sanctioned, Euronews added.
