Environment Ministry Launches Major Waste Management Initiative in Irbid

Irbid: The Ministry of Environment has successfully completed the distribution of 600 waste bins throughout the Irbid governorate during the Eid holiday. This initiative included 300 metal waste bins, each with a capacity of 1,100 liters, and 300 hanging trash cans. The waste bins have been strategically placed across various municipalities, targeting picnic areas, tourist spots, and archaeological sites.

According to Jordan News Agency, this waste management campaign was executed in collaboration with all municipalities within the governorate. This effort marks the first phase of the executive program under the National Cleanliness Strategy. The initiative aims to enhance infrastructure, ensure sustainable cleanliness, reduce indiscriminate waste disposal, and improve public hygiene, particularly in areas experiencing high visitor traffic.

In its statement, the ministry detailed that the distribution was carried out following a "well-planned" field strategy. This strategy was developed in coordination with the Ministry of Local Administration and other partner ministries and institutions to ensure comprehensive coverage of the most frequented sites and to boost waste collection services within the governorate.

Implemented during the Eid al-Fitr holiday, the ministry noted that the campaign coincided with heightened activity in tourist and recreational areas, aiding in environmental preservation and pollution reduction. The ministry also announced that further phases will continue, with plans to distribute additional containers and bins across the Kingdom's governorates as part of ongoing environmental improvement efforts and the promotion of healthy public practices.

The ministry has called upon citizens to utilize the designated containers and bins for waste disposal to help maintain the cleanliness of public areas. It emphasized its steadfast commitment to implementing environmental programs and initiatives nationwide.
