Amman:The Ministry of Environment expressed its approval on Wednesday for the Jordan River Foundation's (JRF) official accreditation by the Green Climate Fund (GCF), describing it as a "national achievement" that enhances the Kingdom's direct access to international climate finance.
According to Jordan News Agency, the ministry highlighted that this accreditation was the result of a close partnership between JRF and the ministry, which acts as the GCF's National Designated Authority in Jordan.
The collaboration reflects both organizations' dedication to managing climate funds in accordance with global governance, transparency, and socio-environmental standards. JRF's accreditation not only strengthens national ownership of climate projects but also ensures that international funding aligns with local priorities, focusing on community resilience, supporting vulnerable groups such as women and youth, and promoting sustainable livelihoods.
By increasing the number of accredited national entities, Jordan aims to bolster its ability to secure international grants and execute innovative climate adaptation and mitigation strategies. The ministry reiterated its commitment to supporting national institutions as Jordan progresses toward its long-term environmental and sustainable development objectives.
