Amman: Minister of Environment Ayman Suleiman announced the launch of a joint national initiative aimed at implementing the National Cleanliness and Anti-Indiscriminate Waste Dumping Strategy. This initiative aligns with the directives of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II to promote a culture of cleanliness and reduce indiscriminate waste disposal throughout the Kingdom.
According to Jordan News Agency, the program was introduced in cooperation with the Jordan Chamber of Industry and forms part of the national strategy's executive plan. It aims to reinforce institutional coordination to protect the environment and enhance the quality of life. Minister Suleiman emphasized that the collaboration with the Chamber is a practical example of public-private sector partnership in advancing environmental governance and sustainable development goals.
The Chamber's statement highlighted the crucial role of the industrial sector in supporting environmental protection efforts, institutionalizing sustainable practices, and helping to maintain the Kingdom's cleanliness. This effort is expected to bolster the country's tourism and investment competitiveness. Suleiman also mentioned that the initiative will back nationwide cleanup campaigns, expand environmental awareness programs, and provide eco-friendly supplies, which will help instill sustainable behaviors and position Jordan as a clean and attractive destination for tourism and investment.
Suleiman stressed the necessity of continuous cross-sectoral coordination to ensure a long-term environmental impact and to foster a culture of social responsibility in environmental stewardship. Chairperson of the Jordan and Amman Chambers of Industry, Fathi Jaghbir, stated that the initiative is part of the Crown Prince's national cleanliness drive and is being executed in partnership with the Ministry of Environment, with extensive participation from the industrial sector.
Jaghbir noted that the Chamber-hosted meeting, which included representatives from the industrial sector, underscores the sector's vital role in supporting royal initiatives, safeguarding the environment, and promoting concepts of environmental sustainability. He described the initiative as a strategic partnership to enhance the industrial sector's contribution to the national cleanliness strategy, thereby reinforcing Jordan's reputation as a tourist destination, encouraging sustainable production practices, and improving citizens' quality of life.
He emphasized that maintaining the Kingdom's cleanliness is essential to national identity and belonging, with local factories supporting the initiative's core pillars. The industrial sector will also assist in environmental awareness campaigns, provide logistical support for cleanup activities, and aid the Ministry of Environment's "Keep Your Bag in Your Car" campaign by distributing thousands of reusable cloth bags to motorists across the nation.
