Amman: Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) and the Ministry of Environment have entered into a cooperation agreement to manufacture and distribute metal containers and hanging waste bins across public spaces, parks, forests, and gardens. This initiative is designed to enhance waste management infrastructure and curb littering practices.
According to Jordan News Agency, the agreement was signed by GAM Mayor Dr. Yousef Shawarbeh and Minister of Environment Dr. Ayman Suleiman. The partnership aims to fortify joint efforts and coordination to execute the 2026-2027 executive program for the National Cleanliness and Anti-Littering Strategy. This program is centered on environmental preservation, increasing public awareness about littering in various public spaces, and improving waste management systems.
At the signing ceremony, Dr. Shawarbeh emphasized the municipality's commitment to advancing cleanliness standards through the strategy's executive program. He called for collaboration with all state institutions to elevate service levels for citizens.
Minister Suleiman commended the efforts of GAM in serving Amman's residents and enhancing the city's cleanliness standards. He highlighted that the collaboration in manufacturing and providing waste containers in public areas directly contributes to fostering positive ecological behavior among citizens while reducing environmentally harmful practices.
