Energy Ministry, International Partners Discuss Green Building Project Updates

Amman: Secretary General of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Amani Azzam, met on Sunday with partners in the Green Building Project to discuss the project's progress, implementation updates, and the necessary steps to obtain green building certification. During a meeting attended by representatives from the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and Ampere, a sustainability solutions provider based in Amman, Azzam urged continued coordination and cooperation among all participating entities.

According to Jordan News Agency, Azzam emphasized the importance of implementing the project based on the highest technical standards to enhance energy efficiency and reduce resource consumption. She noted that the project reflects the Ministry of Energy's commitment to adopting green building and sustainability principles, supporting the Kingdom's initiatives in energy, environment, and climate action.

The meeting reviewed the project's goals and its significance in promoting energy efficiency and sustainability in government buildings. Discussions also covered the efforts of the change management team to ensure the project's success, aligning with the ministry's focus on improving energy efficiency and implementing global best practices in the green building sector.

Ampere presented a report on the phases of the energy audit study and its results related to the project. Additionally, the green building gap report was reviewed, featuring an assessment of the structure's current status compared to the requirements for green building certification, identifying opportunities for improvement, and the necessary actions to meet certification prerequisites.

Participants discussed the progress made in implementing the project, the next steps, and the mechanisms for implementing the required upgrades to ensure the building meets the EDGE certification requirements within the approved timeframe.
