Energy Minister Highlights Role of Local Industries in Jordan’s Economic Progress

Amman:Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Dr. Saleh Kharabsheh emphasized the significance of local industries in advancing Jordan's economic development. He highlighted the necessity of supporting Jordanian products to achieve developmental objectives and enhance employment opportunities.

According to Jordan News Agency, Dr. Kharabsheh made these remarks during an inspection visit to the National Electrical Industry (NEI). He stressed the government's commitment to prioritizing the support of local products and strengthening national industries by ensuring the presence of Jordan-made products in public projects and expanding partnerships with industrialists.

The minister's visit included a review of production lines and energy-efficient lighting units manufactured by NEI. He evaluated their technical specifications and the energy-saving features of LED units, as well as the production stages, testing, and assessment mechanisms.

Dr. Kharabsheh's visit was part of the ongoing "Replacement of Lighting Units with Energy-Saving LED Units" project, which the Ministry launched. This project, funded by the Rural Electrification Fund (Fils Al Reef) and in cooperation with the Ministry of Local Administration and municipalities, has resulted in approximately 140,000 lighting units being installed in the Northern Region's governorates of Mafraq, Ajloun, and Jerash.

The minister also inspected lighting units delivered for the project, ensuring they met field testing and assessment standards. His visit aimed to evaluate the capabilities of the local industry in producing lighting units and to assess the readiness of national products for energy efficiency projects in Jordan.

Established in 1984, the National Electrical Industry operates in the manufacturing of lighting units and accessories, contributing to local lighting projects with its products.
