Irbid: The General Union of Electric Workers in Jordan and Algeria's National Federation of Workers of Sonelgaz Group Companies (FNTIEG) signed a cooperation agreement at the headquarters of Irbid Electricity Company. The agreement aims to enhance trade union cooperation and exchange expertise between the two entities.
According to Jordan News Agency, Bashar Al Tamimi, Director General of Irbid Electricity Company, emphasized the strong ties between Jordan and Algeria. He highlighted the importance of professional trade union work as a means for cooperation, experience exchange, and promoting workers' interests within the electricity sector. He also mentioned the company's achievements, including receiving the King Abdullah II Award for Excellence in Government Performance and Transparency for 2024. This accolade is seen as a testament to the company's institutional approach, which focuses on outstanding performance, sound governance, and continuous improvement.
The agreement, signed by Fakhri Al Ajarmeh from the union and Mohamed Ouled Naoui from the Algerian side, covers the exchange of trade union expertise and visits. It aims to strengthen relationships between electricity sector administrations and workers in both countries, focusing on developments and experience exchange in laws regulating the electricity sector and its workforce.
Al Ajarmeh underscored the agreement's significance and its positive impact on trade union work. He noted that this development is the result of joint cooperation and efforts to enhance union performance. Meanwhile, Ouled Naoui commended the roles of the union and Irbid Electricity Company in bolstering cooperation between Jordan and Algeria. He expressed optimism for further scientific and knowledge exchange between the two parties.
