Amman: The Mexican Embassy in Jordan and the Greater Amman Municipality unveiled the "El Caballito" (The Little Horse) sculpture by internationally renowned Mexican artist Sebasti¡n on Rainbow Street in Jabal Amman. The event marked the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Jordan and Mexico.
According to Jordan News Agency, the sculpture, a gift from the Mexican people to Jordan, was unveiled during a ceremony at Shibli Al-Bisharat Park. The event was attended by Amman Mayor Yousef Shawarbeh, Assistant Secretary-General of the Ministry of Culture for Artistic Affairs Arouba Shamaila, artist Sebasti¡n, members of the Mexican community in Jordan, and guests.
Mexican Ambassador to Jordan Jacob Prado Gonz¡lez highlighted the steady growth of relations between Jordan and Mexico over the past five decades, founded on mutual respect, cooperation, and friendship. He noted that "El Caballito" is one of Mexico City's most iconic artworks and the version installed in Amman is a replica of the original, symbolizing the twinning relationship between the two capitals.
Mayor Shawarbeh welcomed the sculpture as a new cultural and artistic landmark that enriches Amman's urban landscape. He reiterated the municipality's commitment to supporting public art and integrating creativity into daily city life.
Sebasti¡n emphasized that art serves as a universal language that strengthens friendship and understanding across borders. He expressed hope that the sculpture would become a lasting symbol of cooperation and cultural exchange between Jordan and Mexico.
