Education Ministry and Algerian Delegation Discuss Cooperation on Child Protection

Amman: Director of Education Department at Ministry of Education, Dr. Ahmed Masa’fa, emphasized the ministry’s commitment to providing educational services and developing learning plans aimed at creating a safe school environment devoid of violence and abuse nationwide. This announcement came during a meeting with a delegation of Algerian security officers visiting the Kingdom to gain insights into Jordan’s strategies for protecting children from violence and bullying.

According to Jordan News Agency, the meeting was attended by UNICEF Representative Suzanne Kesht, where Dr. Masa’fa highlighted the ministry’s vision to implement programs that build students’ personalities and enhance their skills to face life’s challenges confidently and competently. He also praised the strong bilateral relations between Jordan and Algeria and expressed the ministry’s willingness to enhance cooperation and share expertise in the field of child protection.

Talal Abu Elim, Director of Educational Guidance and Counseling Directorate, outlined the ministry’s initiatives to safeguard students from violence and abuse. These measures include developing preventative guidelines, establishing a hotline for reporting abuse cases, creating school-based codes of conduct, revising student discipline instructions, and formulating a school ethical charter.

UNICEF Representative Kesht expressed her appreciation for the partnership between the Ministry and UNICEF, particularly in their joint efforts to protect children from violence and abuse. The Algerian delegates also expressed their desire to strengthen their ties with Jordan and benefit from its expertise in child protection programs.
