Earthquake Hits South of Fiji

An earthquake measuring 4.6 on the Richter scale hit Fiji on Wednesday.

The US Geological Survey reported that the tremor occurred south of the Fiji Islands, and was at a depth of 573.5 km.

There have been no reports of human losses or material damage as a result of the tremor.

Fiji is located above the Pacific Ring of Fire, making it exposed to many tremors and aftershocks that may be strong at times.

In April, a 6.6-magnitude earthquake hit Fiji, at a depth of 562 km.
