Digital economy minister inaugurates Webhelp Jordan office expansion

Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, Ahmad Hanandeh, inaugurated Thursday, the new Amman-based office expansion of Webhelp, a global business process outsourcing (BPO) provider and technical consultancy leader.

During the opening ceremony, which took place in Amman’s Abdali Boulevard, a mixed-use complex, Hanandeh was briefed by General Manager of Webhelp Jordan, Waed Hawamdeh about the company’s services to clients and the importance of expanding Webhelp’s quality activities and investments in the Kingdom.

Hawamdeh also highlighted Webhelp’s role in providing job opportunities for Jordanian youth, which exceeded 1,250 in the field of exporting technical consultancy and digital services since it was launched in Jordan in July 2019 to now.

The new expansion comes with a 450-office capacity in light of the company’s preparations to resume office-based operations “soon” in light of the “positive” developments in Jordan’s Covid-19 pandemic situation, he noted.

Hanandeh, for his part, praised Webhelp Jordan’s “distinguished” quality services and its “remarkable” role in employing a number of Jordanian competencies, calling on the company to expand its activities to cover the Kingdom’s governorates and benefit from the youth capabilities in those regions.

The minister, moreover, stressed the importance of attracting more investments in the information technology and digital services fields, as Jordan is an “attractive” destination for international companies due to available necessary infrastructure, qualified workers with high skills, and investment-stimulating legislation.

The ministry, he said, supports Jordan’s support sector, which includes many Jordanian and foreign companies working in this field.

Support companies, he noted, provide jobs and benefit from the incentive programs offered by the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship through the Youth, Technology and Jobs Program (Hafiz) program, which serves purposes aiming to hire specialized Jordanian workers in local support companies.
