Amman: Deputizing for His Majesty King Abdullah II, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II on Wednesday attended the closing ceremony of the 32nd National and International Hashemite Competition for the Memorization and Recitation of the Holy Quran for Men. The event was organized by the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs at the King Hussein bin Talal Mosque.
According to Jordan News Agency, Awqaf Minister Mohammad Khalaileh highlighted that the competition is one of the pioneering international events dedicated to Quran memorization. The competition receives ongoing support from His Majesty and the Crown Prince, reflecting the Hashemite commitment to the Holy Quran’s memorization, recitation, and understanding.
Khalaileh noted that the competition is an annual event featuring both national and international categories for males and females. Since its inception in 1993, the competition has brought forward the Quran memorization skills of approximately 33,000 contestants.
During the closing ceremony, His Royal Highness distributed certificates to the winners, which included 35 individuals in the local competition and 6 in the international competition. Certificates were also awarded to the 9 members of the jury.
This year’s event saw participation from 3,645 contestants in the local competition, with 54 participants representing 51 countries in the international competition.
The ceremony was also attended by Chief Islamic Justice Abdul Hafez Rabtah, Jordan’s Grand Mufti Ahmad Hasanat, and Royal Hashemite Court Imam Ahmad Khalaileh.
