The rumors recorded during December 2021 witnessed a ‘slight’ drop in the Kingdom, compared to last November, the Jordanian Media Credibility Monitor, Akeed, said on Thursday.
40 rumors were recorded during December, while 41 fake news were detected a month earlier, circulated via local media and social networking sites, announced the media monitor.
During December, 10 economic rumors topped the list at 25%, then came political and public affairs with 8 each, at 20%, while 7 security fake news were detected at 18%, whereas health had 6 rumors at 15%, and followed by 1 social rumor, at 2%, the monitor’s monthly report on rumors pointed out.
On their origin, 33 rumors emerged online, at 83% of all fake news detected, 91% originated from internal sources and 9% came from social platforms outside Jordan, Akeed said.
