Customs Department Implements New Measures to Expedite Electric Vehicle Clearance.

Zarqa: Jordan Customs Department Director General Jalal Qudah recently visited the Zarqa Free Zone’s customs center to inspect the implementation of new measures following the government’s decision to slash the special tax on electric vehicles. This policy change, enacted last week, has resulted in a significant increase in clearance activities.

According to Jordan News Agency, since the tax reduction came into effect last Saturday, 1,360 out of 2,020 clearance orders have been processed as of Thursday evening. This figure is part of a total of 8,065 electric vehicles targeted for clearance. The Customs Department has responded by devising a contingency plan to handle the rising number of clearances. The plan involves deploying additional resources and personnel at both the Zarqa Free Zone Customs Center and the Amman Customs Center to assist vehicle owners and traders.

The department’s goal is to streamline customs procedures, encouraging citizens to take advantage of the temporary tax reduction, which is
available until the end of the year. Director General Qudah emphasized the importance of this opportunity for those involved in the electric vehicle market.
