Amman: Lawmakers, trade groups, and various organizations have expressed strong support for the Crown Prince’s plan to reactivate the National Military Service Programme, recognizing its potential to shape the character of Jordanian youth while reinforcing national values.
According to Jordan News Agency, the Lower House’s National Guidance and Media Committee praised the decision, viewing it as a crucial measure that emphasizes the Hashemite leadership’s confidence in Jordanian youth. The committee highlighted the programme’s role in bolstering social cohesion and national readiness, affirming that Jordan’s strength lies in its internal unity and robust national fabric.
The Lower House’s Palestine Committee also conveyed their appreciation, describing the initiative as a significant leap towards cultivating a new generation deeply connected to national identity and capable of facing contemporary challenges. They emphasized that national service goes beyond military training by instilling discipline, commitment, and responsibility in young Jordanians.
Statements from civil society organizations, camp service committees, and popular groups echoed these sentiments, noting the programme’s critical timing for fostering responsibility and channeling youth energy toward societal and national service. The Jordan Engineers Association and the General Union of Voluntary Societies both lauded the initiative’s potential to strengthen national identity and empower the youth with essential skills for personal and professional growth.
Furthermore, the Jordanian Respiratory Care Society and the General Federation of Jordanian Trade Unions (GFJTU) endorsed the programme, with leaders emphasizing its role in developing leadership skills, teamwork, and a sense of responsible citizenship among the youth. The Jordanian Center for Labor Rights “Workers’ House” highlighted the programme’s comprehensive approach that integrates military training with professional and technical skill development.
University leaders such as Habes Hatamleh of Jadara University and Salameh Al-Naimat of Mutah University supported the initiative, recognizing its alignment with educational missions to prepare future generations. Firas Al-Hanandeh of Ajloun National University described the decision as pivotal in fostering an aware and committed generation.
Journalists and civil society figures also praised the Crown Prince’s move, emphasizing its role in enhancing youth engagement in national and social development, thereby contributing to Jordan’s sustained growth and stability.
