Crown Prince Inaugurates Aqaba Digital Hub, Jordan’s First Fully-Integrated Digital Project

Aqaba: His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II on Tuesday inaugurated the Aqaba Digital Hub, Jordan’s first fully-integrated digital project. The hub is one of the largest data centres and digital infrastructure facilities in the region.

According to Jordan News Agency, the Crown Prince toured the facilities of the Aqaba Digital Hub and received a briefing from its Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Eyad Abu Khorma. The project encompasses the largest data centre in the Kingdom, covering an area of approximately 17,000 square metres, with an operational capacity of up to 12 megawatts. It is equipped to host artificial intelligence technologies.

Abu Khorma highlighted that the project, established through Jordanian expertise, features the Kingdom’s first marine cable landing station with an open access policy. This development reinforces Jordan’s role as an independent digital gateway directly connected to international networks.

He further explained that the project includes three submarine cables that enhance Jordan’s connectivity between Asia, Africa, and Europe. Additionally, two more cables are currently being connected to the Aqaba Digital Hub.

The hub boasts Jordan’s first neutral data exchange centre, which is the fastest growing in the region. It supports hosting public and private cloud services and features an integrated security system comprising a security operations centre and a secure access platform. This positions the Kingdom as a regional hub for hosting sensitive systems used by government agencies and the financial sector.

Furthermore, the facility offers training and qualification opportunities for young people in information technology and cybersecurity fields. It also houses data and artificial intelligence centres, and a centre for electronic games and digital content production.

His Royal Highness was joined by Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority Chief Commissioner Shadi Majali and Director of the Office of the Crown Prince Zaid Baqain.
