Crown Prince Engages in Key Discussions with US Congress Member and State Department Official

Washington: His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II met separately in Washington, DC, with Congressman Abraham ‘Abe’ Hamadeh, a member of the House Armed Services Committee, and Jeremy Lewin, US State Department Under Secretary for Foreign Assistance, Humanitarian Affairs and Religious Freedom.

According to Jordan News Agency, the discussions focused on efforts to restore comprehensive calm and achieve peace in the region. The stability, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of Syria and Lebanon were also central to the conversations, with an emphasis on supporting these nations in maintaining their security.

The Crown Prince highlighted the economic partnership between Jordan and the United States, underscoring significant projects like the Aqaba-Amman Water Desalination and Conveyance Project. This project is seen as a pivotal element in enhancing bilateral economic relations.

The meetings further addressed Jordan’s role under the Hashemite Custodianship in protecting Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, in addition to Christian pilgrimage sites within Jordan. The safeguarding of these sites remains a priority for Jordan in its regional efforts.

The dialogues also explored Jordan’s modernisation strategies and the development of its digital economy. These initiatives are part of Jordan’s broader efforts to enhance its economic infrastructure and technological capabilities.

Jordan’s Ambassador to the United States, Dina Kawar, and Director of the Office of the Crown Prince, Zaid Baqain, were present during the meetings, contributing to the discussions.
